Obzor

Obzor is situated midway between Varna and Bourgas. The hilly wooded terrain opens into a coastal stretch - a six-kilometer long sandy beach, surprisingly uncrowded even during peak season. Obzor lies in the skirts of the eastern part of the Balkan Mountain with the mountain ridge raising to the west of the city and the Dvoynitsa river bounding it to the north. The town is surrounded by open vineyards and the woods of the Balkan range ending at Cape Emine. The nearby village Emine is a picturesque settlement, an unseen combination of mountain and see. During the peak season there is a few-day rocker fair in Obzor gathering hundreds of motorcyclists from all over the country.

Nessebur

Nessebar (37km from Bourgas) is one of the most popular resorts among foreign tourists for its ancient spirit and well-preserved remains. This old Greek colony is located on a small peninsula in the Black Sea wich is linked with the land only by a long and narrow isthmus. No one can say for sure whether the isthmus is natural or man-made. It has existed for more than 9,000 years; churches stunningly beautiful facades and interiors houses with stone-built ground levels and wooden upper floors jutting above the streets and external staircases, gift shops, pubs, tavern and lovely flower gardens. There is a large sandy strip of land between the town and the village of Ravda, covered with clean golden sand.

Pomorie

Pomorie is situated 20km from Bourgas and 18km from Sunny Beach. It possesses the unique nature which makes it an attractive place for year-round recreation and treatment of various diseases due to its curative mud. Pomorie was founded in IV B.C. near a salty lake called by the ancient Thracians "sacred" because of its curative abilities. In the modern sanatorium different diseases are cured all year round muscular disorders, radiculitis, rheumatism, sciatica, lumbago, discal hernia, skin, peripheral nerves, non-typical of the breathing organs, liver, heart and other diseases. The climate is extremely favourable with 2360 hours of sunshine per year, warm autumn and refreshing spring. The town is encircled by vineyards, orchards and vegetable gardens.The Pomorie Bay is preferred for yachting, sailing and fishing.

Bourgas

Bourgas is the fourth largest city in Bulgaria with a population of 200 000 people, the biggest sea port in the country The places of interest: The Ethnographic Museum, the Art Gallery, the Armenian Church, the philharmonic hall, the opera house and St.Cyril and Methodius Cathedral for its marvelous frescos and wooden altar. The shady Sea Garden is a lovely place to stroll in hot summer days. The park is situated on a hill next to the coast, and is rich in flowers, trees and sculptures. There are 2 universities and 4 colleges in the town and many opportunities for entertainment.

Chernomoretz

Chernomoretz (26km from Bourgas)located between Bourgas and Sozopol offers a combination of sea side and river coast, the speciffic fauna and flora of the region; rocky shoreline providing secluded spots for swimming, sun bathing and fishing. One of the finest beaches in the region is just south of town; regular transport to Bourgas

Sozopol

Sozopol is situated 31km from Bourgas The town lies on a small rocky peninsula where a one hundred-metre long strip of land connects it to the mainland. In the 7th century BC Greek colonisers settled there. The high level of cultural development of the town at that time is testified by items found in its necropolis - ceramics, vases made of Egyptian glass, silver and golden decorations. There are more than 45 architectural monuments of Sozopol. The ancient atmosphere of the town is further fed by cobbled streets and high fences in front of which the old women sit and chat, knit laces and sell jams.

One could buy fish directly from fishermen at the quay. Moreover, at the beginning of September each year the town hosts the big Apolonia International Art Festival, which attracts artists and art lovers from all over the country. Outside Sozopol, there are a number of fjord-like formations to the south. There are numerous secluded caves as well. The tourists can enjoy four excellent beaches in the area.

Primorsko

Primorsko is famous for its 10km sandy beach, and with its plenty of outdoor cafes, discos and inexpensive restaurants it attracts the Bulgarian youth. Situated 52km from Bourgas, the town has two beaches, the Northern and the Southern ones. The former is more open and offers rough sea, which makes it treasured by surfers, while the latter is smaller and calmer, and hence preferred by families.

Traditionally, the Southern Beach gets overcrowded during the top season, which makes holidaymakers sunbathe at nearby beaches, such as the one of the International Youth Centre. The youth centre is situated only 1-2 km to the south of the town and represents a typical holiday city for young people with plenty of villas, bungalows, hotels, bars, discos, and various sports grounds. The area is forested with deciduous trees and vegetation and is arranged as a cultivated park in an old oak wood. The most popular nearby place is the Ropotamo river, famous for its thick forest, otherwise typical for tropical climates. The marsh of Arkutino also falls within the boundaries of the natural reserve. Besides its attractive rocky formations, the right-hand bank of the river also features one of the largest natural reserves of Water Pelin - a rare and treasured herb - in the country.

Kiten

Kiten (56km from Bourgas) has a mild climate, intact nature and sea, little and cosy private hotel, numberless restaurants,snack - bars,discos, amusement park, water slides The South beach borders river Kiten which is rich in grey mullet, carp and barbel There is also a sea base for sea sports and yachting.

Lozenetz

Lozenetz (64km from Bourgas) is family orientated touristic spot with hotels and guesthouses. The village has a long and beautiful beach, while two nearby campsites and small inlets around Lozenets offer their own beaches as well. The fact that Lozenets is a typical fishermen settlement ensures the supply of fresh fish and the abundance of fish specialties at the village restaurants. Locally produced wine adds to the charm of most restaurants' and pubs' menus. Lozenetz has just about 250 local families as similarly to other towns and villages along the coast, more and more houses and land plots are being bought out by wellty Bulgarians and foreigners for holiday villas. Outside the village, one can take a boat trip down the Ropotamo river, famous for the thick forest along its banks, otherwise typical for tropical climates.

Tzarevo

Tzarevo - situated 72km from Bourgas at the foot of Strandja Mountain where it slopes to the sea. In ancient times there was a Greek colony named Vassiliko There are three spacious beaches in the vicinity. Fish at low prices can be bought at the port from local fishermen as well.

Ahtopol

Ahtopol (87km from Bourgas) is situated both on the Black Sea coast and at the foot of Middle Strandza mountain. Five kilometres south of Ahtopol is the mouth of Veleka river. The combination of sea side and river coast defines the speciffic fauna and flora of the region The winter in Ahtopol is mild - there are only 6 to 8 days with snow falling. Fig-trees, pomegranates and olive-trees are largely grown in that region, as well as a special kind of a palm-tree called "Yuka" The Assumption Church and the St. Yani Monastery are interesting sights for tourists. In the afternoon and evenings, romantic visitors enjoy walking to the town's lighthouse and crawling over the nearby rocks next to the quay, beneath which one can see a lot of crabs and fish.

Sinemoretz

Sinemoretz features two beautiful beaches - one to the north, representing a pretty wide strip of sand bordering the mouth of the Veleka river from one shore to the other and another one to the south stretching between jutty rocks. More spectacular is the beach to the north, a kilometre-long sand bar that slows the progress of the River Veleka towards the sea. Framed by low green hills, it's one of the most beautiful spots on the Black Sea coast. The village of Sinemoretz lies in the skirts of the Strandzha Mountain in the middle of a natural reserve, which already makes it a desired destination of naturelovers.

A few kilometers down the road to Rezovo one can visit the fabulous beach of Silistar which has become popular among tourist only in the last couple of years. The beach has wonderful sands, and is loved by families with children due to its serene, shallow and always-crystal waters.
